How Much Does a House Renovation Cost in Ireland?
A full house renovation in Ireland usually costs between €1,500 and €2,500 per square metre for a standard, good-quality finish,...
Most builders design first and price later. Alder gives you a real cost for your house extension or renovation before a single drawing is commissioned. So every design you see is one you can actually afford to build. Our own trades then build it to the agreed figure.

Two things separate us in practice. The budget is agreed before anything is drawn, and every trade on your site is Alder staff.
1
Drawings come first
An architect is appointed and a full set of drawings is produced before any builder has priced the work.
2
The quotes come back high
Tenders land above what you set aside, because nothing in the design was ever tested against a real budget.
3
You redraw or you stop
Either way, months are gone and the design fees are spent. Neither outcome gets you a house.
1
Feasibility before design
We assess the house, the site and your brief, then give you a real cost range and the planning position.
2
Design built to that figure
Layouts, structural design and any planning application are developed to the budget you have already agreed.
3
Our own trades build it
Employed plumbers, electricians and structural staff on one programme, under one site manager, to the figure agreed at the start.
Design, structure, planning and the build itself. Whatever your project needs, it is handled in-house by people on the Alder payroll rather than brought in.
We work with the house you already have. That means new layouts, new services where the old ones have failed, and older Dublin homes brought up to a standard that lasts.
We add floor area, from a single-storey rear build to a full two-storey extension. The new space is the easy part. Tying it into the existing house is what decides the result.
Everything before a spade goes in the ground. We handle the costing, the drawings, the structural design and the planning application. The same people then build what they designed.

Planning a renovation comes with many questions. Here are a few answers to help you understand the process before getting started.
Everything from the first costing to the final certificate. Alder covers feasibility, architectural design, structural design, planning applications, the build itself, and commissioning at the end. One contract and one team, so you are not coordinating an architect, an engineer and a builder separately.
We visit the house, look at the site, the structure and what you want to achieve, then give you a realistic cost range based on projects we have actually built. It is not a quote. It is a figure accurate enough to decide whether to proceed before you spend anything on drawings.
No, not for the core trades. Our plumbers, electricians, carpenters and structural staff are Alder employees. That is why we can commit to a programme and hold it, rather than waiting on trades booked across several other sites.
No. We work on whole spaces rather than single rooms, so extensions, full renovations, refurbishments and conversions. We do not take standalone kitchen or bathroom fit-outs, or individual trade jobs like a rewire on its own.
Dublin city and county, and the parts of Kildare, Meath and Wicklow closest to the city. Our base is Terenure, Dublin 6W, and most of the homes we work on are within half an hour of it. Further out depends on the size of the job.
Tell us about the house and what you want to do to it. We come back with a realistic cost range and whether the site allows it.
